Film at eleven

AJ has been on another Magic School Bus jag lately. His toy school bus has been making all kinds of exotic journeys, packed with kids, who are played by a motley assortment of Fisher-Price figurines. Since the bus only came with two children, he has rounded out the class with a zookeeper, a farmer, a couple of auto mechanics, and assorted members of the royal family.

Yesterday, AJ decided to take seven of them outside for a special fieldtrip in the driveway. He decided they were going to the South Pole. I was cast as the resident penguin. After careening around the driveway for a while, the bus took off and eventually crash-landed into a snowdrift on the far side of the driveway. AJ wanted to dig them a snow cave to explore, but the snow was too icy for him to manage, so I helped him out. When the cave was finished, all the children jumped out and landed head-first in the snow. At this point, AJ screamed, AVALANCHE! grabbed the shovel, and began burying the class. And the shrieks of terror were heard far and wide across the land.

It was almost a tragic day in the driveway.

Fortunately, though, after some concerted digging, we found them all (I think) and put them back in the bus.

So where are they going now, AJ? I asked.

Um To the SOUTH POLE! They flew across the driveway and landed in another snowbank. Mommy? Can you dig another hole?

I never knew the driveway was such an adventure.
