Golden factories

After all my complaining yesterday, the Fun Fair actually was fairly fun, although still sadly lacking in beer. We bought a boatload of tickets and AJ had a blast bouncing on moonwalks, throwing baseballs at a target, performing admirably on the ring toss and hitting a hole in one on the putting green. He eschewed the pony rides in favor of blue cotton candy, which died his tongue and much of his face and even some of his hair, a violent blue, which he admired for a full five minutes in the mirror when we got home.

We also got to check out the kindergarten classrooms, the music room, and the art room of the school hell be going to next year. All looked very appealing, although the music rooms piano looks like its been through the wars, as no doubt it has.

After we walked home and got a very sleepy AJ to bed, we made mojitos with the first harvest of garden mint and the day was not looking so bad..

I got up early this morning to volunteer on the clean-up crew for the pool where I teach water aerobics in the summer. I spent three hours pulling buckthorn and creeper and grape ivy out of the ground and every muscle in my body is now sore. But it was great to be outside early and working hard. Once the rain settles in this afternoon, Ill be ready for a rest.
