Another perfect wonder

Sunday, after picking up my computer, I dragged AJ to a couple of stores where I promised Id try on some potential bridesmaid dresses for the wedding Ill be in this June. First stop was j.cr3w, where they didnt have the formal dresses in, but I tried on some that were cut similarly. They were awful. So awful that I was laughing hysterically in the dressing room. They were halter style dresses cut so low that when I put them on, the point of the V came a couple of inches below the bottom of my bra. Sitting outside the dressing room with a Lego car wed just bought to give him something to do while he waited, AJ called, Can I see Mommy? Um, no. This is definitely not suitable for children. I tried tying up the halter neck so that I felt I had adequate coverage in the boobular area. The waist was now about an inch below my armpits. Unless the bride is going for a porn star theme, Im thinking this is probably not going to work.

Fortunately the second stop was better. I found a silk dress that fit like a charm and in the right color scheme and for under $200. A definite possibility. I called the bride to give her the report and headed downstairs to take AJ to lunch at pseudo-ecologically conscious restaurant, the kind of place Id normally avoid if I didnt feel guilty about dragging AJ into assorted dress shops. The place was full of animatronic animals, which were creepy, and giant fish tanks, which were really cool. AJ was a little freaked out by the occasional indoor thunderstorm, but we both enjoyed our lunch and had a great time playing i-Spy while we waited for our food, which was unexpectedly tasty.

On the way home, we turned on the radio and cranked it up extra loud. The Red Hot Chili Peppers Snow came on and we sang at the top of our lungs, Hey, Oh! Listen what I say oh!

AJ asked, What does Hey Oh mean?
It doesnt really mean anything. Its like saying, Hey, you! Hey!
Oh, AJ said innocently and then realized it was funny and started giggling.
We giggled so hard that we almost failed to see the herd of deer, 15 at least, grazing in the snowy field alongside the car.

Hey, Oh! Look at all those deer, oh!

Oh!

It is snowing again, beautiful, fine, powdery flakes. Its so light that if you blow on it you send it spinning in cartoonish curlicues. The deer, just four, are in our backyard right now. Three of them are the doe and her twins that were born in our yard this summer. The fourth seems to have adhered to the family group in the last couple of weeks. He tags along a little bit behind, looking not quite sure as if he belongs. But Im learning to look for him when I see the other three, for hes never far behind. Right now the mother and the twins are standing in the icy stream nibbling on low branches. The fourth is curled up, nose to tail, in AJs secret house. I didnt see him until his ear twitched. He looks like a snow-covered rock. I wish AJ were here to see this.
