The eagle has landed

RS536 has arrived and we have been showing her the sights here in the Middle of Nowhere. AJ was shy at first when we met RS at the airport, although he jutted his hand out to meet hers. After lunch at a restaurant on our way home from the airport, though, he seemed to decide she was okay and by the time we arrived, he couldnt wait to show her his room.

The three of us took a walk down to the river, where RS gamely agreed to play the field in a game of pretend baseball in which I was pitcher and AJ was, as usual, the batter. We buried our toes in the sand on the beach, pushed AJ on the swings and headed home by way of the pool.

This evening is sure to bring more conversation and marveling at the fact that weve known each other for twenty (twenty!) years. And tomorrow we get to enjoy bagels imported from Brooklyn before AJs t-ball practice. Tomorrow is team picture day, which is sure to be entertaining. Getting ten 5-year-olds to do the same thing at the same time is nearly as impossible as herding cats. But they will try anyway.

I will probably be largely out of commission this weekend, as a result of our esteemed houseguest. Unless we decide on writing a joint blog entry. In which case, you may all run for cover.
