Scene: Harriets dinner table. Harriet: So AJ, what were you and The Girl Next Door and B. [her brother] playing outside with the flashlights. AJ: Well, actually, TGND went home and B. and I were playing a really fun game called Non-Friction. Harriet: Non-friction? How do you play that? AJ: Well, you need there to be melty snow. And then you just pretend theres no friction and there are two invisible walls, one at the exit and one at the entrance to our house [he means the driveway, which is U-shaped] and you slide into them sometimes. Harriet: That sounds like fun. Mr. Spy: Who came up with that name? Because its kind of a joke. AJ: Me. Mr. Spy: Because theres a kind of book thats called non-fiction AJ: (giggles) Yeah. And Non-friction is non-fiction! Harriet: Youre right! AJ: But friction isnt fiction. Mr. Spy: That sounds like a good name for a book. Maybe you should write a book with me. AJ: It will have to be non-friction. [Second entry today. Click back for my fruitcake recipe]
