I've always liked Pierre. Also, Noisy Nora (for obvious reasons).

There was a storm that whipped through at about 11 Saturday night that woke up Katie. She was cranky all day yesterday.

Perhaps AJ could persuade Dusty that thinking of happy things in ones own bed is the best way to fall asleep. She is now a permanent resident in mine.

Your AJ diary entries sound so ideal, the perfect captured moments isolated and remembered without all the foment and torment and angst associated with raising an active boy-child. I fear we your readers get a rather unrealistic view of your family life. I wish I had been keeping a diary when my kids were little so that I too could have caught selected special moments and preserved them like ants in amber.

Yes, the lion -- I remember now -- he's sort of a chorus without saying anything. I also really like the trick, which is pretty common in kids' books, where even though Pierre ultimately gives in and learns a lesson, the important and memorable thing is how perfectly he expresses the anti-message -- the "I don't care" part. Despite all the argument, that's what the book is about. I also love the size of those books. We've been having great night-time storms, too, followed by mostly sunny, but cold, days.
