Mortality is such an insult, I think. I sometimes wish I was an animal so I'd never know there was an end, that things like this, things like cancer and murder, can happen. To us.

I'm really, really sorry. When I was 5, my best friend lost her dad to leukemia, and I remember what she went through, and what she has gone through all her life since then, because of the loss. AJ's friendship will, I hope, be a source of strength for N. It'll also impact AJ -- thinking of you all.

Harriet - what a beautiful entry - and just as I was blinking back tears, I came to your comment about cantors in Catholic churches. So true! Usually so awful, and then when you truly need someone awful, they're glorious and it transports you all over again. Thirty-five and prepared for death - encourages all of us to hug loved ones a bit more tightly tonight, eh?

That's very sad. I'm sorry, especially for N and his mother. It's going to be so tough for them. The cell phone problem has happened at a service I attended too. ick.

Just read this entry. Wow, I'm so sorry. That is so unbelievably young. So tragic. I hope you are doing OK.

Oh, Harriet, I am so sorry. Both for his family but for you as well. And you are absolutely right about the singing in Catholic churches (although we are blessed to be in one with absolutely marvelous cantors). My heart goes out to N. and W. and their mom, as it does to you and AJ as well.
