Such an interesting dream to have in autumn. Glad that your niece is OK--that's so scary!!

Wow. Will she need any other surgery to reconstruct the lip?? Wow...

Bad dog! Poor niece--I'm sorry. And, on an unrelated note, nice description of the autumn leaves. XO Violet

Ouch! So sorry about your neice. I hope they can do some reconstruction. Surely with all they do to plump up lips for cosmetic reasons, they can do an implant, collagen, and so on.

They think she won't need more surgery. They were able to reattach it and it's healing well at the moment. It all depends on whether they can keep infection at bay -- apparently a particular challenge, given runny noses and eating and such. She'll always have a scar, but they think it will be unobtrusive once it heals. Thanks for the good wishes. Although I know it was hard on my niece physically, emotionally, I think, it has been harder on her parents. They are all still recovering. This is one of those times when we really wish they didn't live on the other side of the globe.

Another reason to hate dogs. Hope she'll be okay. Does AJ know? This certainly won't help his fear of dogs.

Yes, this is one of those reasons why I am a little afraid of dogs and hesitant about owning one. I hope everyone recovers from this experience, from the physical injury and from the trauma.
The oak leaves truly are the most regal. They wait the longest and hold on to the very last, and you're right, this year, they are especially gorgeous.

Your poor little niece! How scary that must have been for her and your family. I'm glad that she's doing okay.

No, we haven't told AJ about it. He's too easily freaked out by dogs as it is. And we're not going to see them before next summer anyway, by which point, hopefully, it won't be a big deal anymore. I don't hate dogs, though. I've had too many good dogs in my life to go off the whole species. Although some dog owners I could do without.

Oh! I'm so sorry to hear about your niece. How traumatic for her and her parents. I know it is terribly hard to keep it together to not freak a kid out more. I'm glad to see your update that the outlook is cautiously optimistic. - ^p - I especially hate to hear about dog-related injuries because they're preventable, and almost always mean the dog's person has failed in their responsibility. You say "Although some dog owners I could do without" - I agree with that. I time and the leave provide some solace. - ^p -
