Oh - that reminds me to mention "slave time" as a punishment I learned about yesterday in a philanthropy workshop (no lie). It is helping parents perform onerous tasks as punishment for bad behavior, meted out in increments of 15 mins or so. Commit the crime, do the time.

What a riot. Would he allow you to post it online for the rest of us?

Heh. No, the children have to do the chores. Clear the table and wash dishes, etc. The speaker's son had racked up 3 hours of "slave time" and had to weed with him in the yard. Perhaps I will elaborate tomorrow.

I agree with AJ. I'm in it for the pie, I just eat the turkey to be polite. Also, your husband seems to have a good sense of humor. Any chance he'll let you post his lesson?

Oh! How very sweet! I'm going shopping for curtain fabric -- sounds pretty onerous to me.

I will see what he thinks of my posting The Day of Onerous Tasks. I'll post it if he'll let me. As for AJ, he has been thinking up onerous tasks to do -- he's taking it all quite seriously. And he has actually agreed to mop the kitchen floor, if I will help him. Does that constitute slave time, Chris?

That is truly magical. Not to mention a pip!

I ended up taking my blanket to college. In fact, my partner and I both still have ours. They help us endure a lifetime of onerous tasks!

ROTFL!! Yes, I, too, want to read the History of the Day of Onerous Tasks which, in our household, includes the semi-onerous task of obtaining a Christmas tree.
