Your description of the unbendable toddler reminds me of Randy in A Christmas Story - the snowsuit he has to wear. When he tips over, the older boys have to rescue him because he can't get up. It's cold here and yet the students are still wearing flip flops. And they wonder why they end up with pneumonia. Sigh.

I must concur with Claudia! That scene is straight out of A Christmas Story! I saw that part of that movie and immediately thought of the layers of clothing that my mother used to put on me when I was small. It was hard enough moving across ice and snow, but to have to do it in a snow suit (or a coat and snow pants) with hand me down duck boots or my shoes inside plastic bags (to help them slide in and out) inside rubber galoshes? Yuck.

Believe it or not, I've never seen A Christmas Story. I may have to remedy that this year. And what is up with the flip-flops? My toes curl up just looking at them. There's a foot of snow on the ground, for Pete's sake!

Brilliantly written! I love those little michelin men children...and the thought of you dunking your toes in your coffee for warmth! (I've never seen A Christmas Story either - just the 30-second parody done with the cartoon rabbits.)

Cartoon rabbits? Okay, I'm going to have to look for that one.

I haven't seen the bunnies to A Christmas Story - cool. I have to say, I didn't even realize they *made* turtleneck down vests. I hope you stayed warm and it reminds me again why I live in lower New England and *not* in Upstate New York still!!

Oh people, people! How could you NOT see A Christmas Story? Is it TBS or some other channel that runs it for 24 hours straight on Xmas eve every year. It is a must-see! I may have to have Dusty stay up for it this year. A thing of beauty. I look forward to receiving the CD! Essay and card will be along when I have them (separately) in my hot little hands.
