A Solar System Ms. From a Future World

AJ has been running around the house this morning singing, Interplanet Janet, shes a galaxy girl! Because thats the only line from the song I can remember without looking up the words, thats the only line AJ knows. He blithely repeats it over and over until it makes him giggle. The reason he is so excited? He has show and tell today.

Show and Tell is that opportunity to take center stage. AJ loves showing things to people. It almost doesnt matter what they are. I always think of Show and Tell as the opportunity to bring something really special to show your friends, something that will tell them a little more about you or create an image you want to project. For AJ, though, its usually just the time to bring whatever is the first thing he lays his eyes on when he walks into his room with the empty Show and Tell box. This time it happened to be Lucy from his set of Peanuts action figures (they are certainly not dolls!). Lucy is his favorite of the set. When you ask him why he will either say, Because she has a pretty bow on her dress or Because shes a bossy girl. Both of these things are true. My husband, however, was mildly alarmed that he was bringing a girl doll to school, so with some encouragement he added Charlie Brown and a football to the box, so he can demonstrate the place kicks game, where Lucy pulls the football away from Charlie Brown and he screams AAUUGGHH!!! Apparently this was very popular and AJ put on quite a show before taking his figures around the room and letting each student try them out.

After getting AJ down for his nap, I had a lovely phone conversation with lass's mother, an educator, who had some very helpful things to say about how to get AJ what he needs from the schools and was fun to talk to besides. Shes stressing about that wedding, though!

And now, for the meme of the day which is so random, that I am giving in to it:

Using Mapquest, how many miles is it from your house to your parents' house?
987.63 miles. Too far.

Google your first and last name, in quotes. How many results were found?
My first and married last name only gets me 14. But my first and maiden name gets me 2,330, and a fascinating mix of Gilbert and Sullivan and porn sites. Mostly the latter. I dont want to know why.

What room in your house is too small?
The powder room, The door clears the counter by about an eighth of an inch.

What room is too large?
None. The rest of the rooms are just right.

Name of your third grade teacher:
Mrs. Miller. She was my favorite elementary school teacher.

How much money did you make at your first job?
Im not sure I remember. My first jobs were babysitting and teaching violin, both of which I started around age 12-14. Im guessing a couple of bucks an hour. My first job with a paycheck was as a clerk in a clothing store where I worked after school. I made minimum wage. My first job after graduating from college (and after temping for a few months) paid a measly $15,000 per annum, which in Boston didnt get me very far, but I was happy to have a check at all. I worked for a small theater company and didnt expect much.

Favorite donut:
Boston cream. But I hardly ever eat donuts.

Name(s) of your next door neighbor(s):
Dennis and Lorraine

Genre of music you can't stand:
Ill try just about anything. Im not totally happy about listening to a lot of traditional Native American ceremonial music, though.

Last thing bid on on ebay:
I dont remember. Probably some old and obscure book. Thats usually what I buy there.

How much cash is in your wallet:
Im too lazy to get up and look, but its probably in the vicinity of 8 bucks and change.
