AJ has been talking non-stop about the �carvinal� which is coming to town this week. I don�t think there will be any actual carnies (unless you count the members of the local charitable organization running the thing), but AJ has his heart set on the teacup ride, which he is convinced will be the �funnest ride ever.� I believe his only knowledge of the teacup ride and carnivals in general is from a book called Little Rabbit Lost in which a small rabbit gets lost in an amusement park on his birthday. In that book, little rabbit wants to ride the roller coaster, but he�s too small and he is placated with the teacup ride. AJ spotted the teacup ride, all folded up, parked in the high school parking lot earlier this week, awaiting transport to the local park where the carnival (or �carvinal,� as the case may be) is taking place and immediately started fantasizing about riding it. He played �carvinal rides� in his bathtub last night, giving all his ABCs fast rides around the tub in a pail. AJ�s carnival, however, is probably long overdue for a safety inspection. His ABCs kept flying out of the tub in the most alarming way. Next week maybe we�ll be playing �ambulance ride.�

In any case, AJ�s dreams will be put to the test tomorrow afternoon, when he finally gets a taste of a real carnival. I plan on wearing a large hat and getting a headache. AJ plans on running straight for the teacup and riding it �nine or maybe ten times.� Maybe I should bring some Dramamine.
