I know it's probably not fair to steal lines from a child, but I definitely plan on using that one in the future. It so perfectly describes what's wrong when there is no more wine, ice cream, daylight, etc. Smart cookie.

The last paragraph describes so well how I've been feeling these last few days!

>Its amazing how much we hold ourselves >back, whether out of fear or habit or >both. that really rings true for me right now. i just heard some bad news for my (and everyone in my field's) career future (bad funding stories) and it's making me fearful and conservative. luckily i had a talk with a friend, another grad student, who had a great perspective on it. today, i will try to figure out a new way not to hold myself back.

Gosh, that last bit is so true. My boyfriend has been working on a sculpture for a couple years now, and it still isn't finished. I was thinking that he didn't finish b/c he was afraid he'd be unable to sell it and start his art career..but maybe it is more about what you said. Or a combo of both. It's scary to take that leap.
