Bed

AJ has a real bed, or will in a few weeks when it arrives. He is very excited about it, but seemed a little doubtful when we were looking at the floor model this afternoon. It turned out he was freaked out by the bedding, which was covered in pictures of trophy fish. I had to admit it was kind of creepy and told him that his bed would have a different comforter with anything he wanted on it. Even basketballs? he suggested hopefully, eyeing the rug shaped like a giant basketball on display across the aisle. He was very disappointed that we didnt get to bring his bed home right away. He had been planning on taking a nap in it immediately. He did, however, go to sleep quite quickly after jumping into his crib, no doubt with visions of basketballs dancing in his head.

I decided to be a cheap bastard and pick the thing up myself from the warehouse when it comes in, rather than pay an extra $75 for a delivery person to bring it in and put it together. It will mean additional hauling for me and my husband and several hours of assembly, but I always like an excuse to use my power tools.

I am feeling rather glum this afternoon. The house is so quiet. The snow is swirling outside the windows in anxious tornados. Perhaps I should pack up my diss for the afternoon and delve into my taxes. At least then my depressed mood would be put to good use.
